A new paper entitled Lectin Microarray Profiling of Metastatic Breast Cancers, Glycobiology was published on Glycobiology, April 19, 2011. This paper explains the effectiveness of Lectin Microarrays over LC-MS/MS technology from a view point of discovery phase glycome profiling.

A joint paper with Univ. of Maryland and Stanford Univ., and entitled "Chemoenzymatic synthesis and lectin array characterization of a class of N-glycan clusters" was accepted in Journal of the American Chemical Society. In this paper, a chemoenzymatic synthesis of novel-N-glycan clusters using a tandem endoglycosidase-catalyzed transglycosylation was introduced, and those new compounds were evaluated by LecChips.

In a paper of Dr. G. Kondoh, Kyoto University entitled "Testicular Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme with Different Glycan Modification: Characterization on Glycosylphosphatidylinositol-Anchored Protein Releasing and Dipeptidase Activities, J. Biochem. 2009 145(1)115-121, doi:10.1093/jb/mvn148", it was clearly shown with using lectin microarrays that the GPIase activity is greatly different between CHO-derived and COS7-derived tACE with the difference of glycan structures.

A joint paper entitled "Chemoenzymatic synthesis and lectin array characterization of a class of N-glycan clusters" was submitted to Journal of the American Chemical Society. The authors are Dr. Wei Huang (1st author) and Dr. Lai-X Wang (supervisor) from Univ, of Maryland, Dr. Denong Wang from Stanford Univ., and Dr. M. Yamada from GPB).

In the coming Bio Japan 2009, which will be held on Oct.7th-9th at Pacifico Yokohama, a joint special session of 4th Glit forum and GPB seminar will be held on Oct. 7th from 13:30 to 16:30. In our GPB seminar, Dr. M. Yamada will introduce outline of glycan profiling technology as a moderator of this session, and Dr. M. Mizogami from Research Center for Hepatitis & Immunology, International Medical Center of Japan will give a talk about expectations for novel glyco-biomarkers of liver disease.
